Classes for kids

OUR CLASSES
Pyjama Drama deliver classes for children from 6 months to Second Grade. We run both weekly classes and activities throughout school breaks.

We run four different types of drama classes, each differentiated to ensure that all activities are just right for each child's individual developmental stage.

Dewdrops: 6 months - 2.5 years
Raindrops: 2 - 3 years
Rainbows: 3 - 4 years
Sunbeams5 - 8 years

WHAT HAPPENS IN A CLASS
In all our classes children singdance, play games and pretend. We have hundreds of different themes covering a wide range of topics. One week we may fly to the moon, the next take our sick dog to the vet and the next swim in the ocean with a friendly shark. Your child can join Pyjama Drama at age six months and attend every week up to the age of 8, without ever repeating the same session!

WHAT CHILDREN LEARN
Pyjama Drama helps children learn about their world in a safe environment; allowing them to 'trial' situations before they happen (like going to the dentist or starting 'big school'), to practice using new words, to try out different personas and explore different feelings. This all helps improves communication skills, builds confidence, develops creative thinking, and cooperation skills, as well as helping children to become better listeners.

We don't use props and costumes (we don't need them), and we aren't trying to train child actors either. Pyjama Drama harnesses the power of the imagination to nurture confident, expressive, curious and happy children. Take a look at how...

WHAT PARENTS OR TEACHERS DO DURING A CLASS
Please rest assured you'll never be asked to do anything that makes you feel silly (that's our job!), but whether your child is a little shy or a natural extrovert, they'll benefit from you being in the class with them having fun. You'll also learn some new games that you might like to play at home or in your class. As your children grow in confidence, you may take a step back from some parts of the class, but we do ask that parents and teachers refrain from talking amongst themselves as it can be very distracting for the children.

WHERE AND WHEN
Our classes are run in schools, preschools, enrichment programs, and libraries on the Central Coast from Santa Maria to Cambria by our dedicated and highly skilled Pyjama Drama leaders. Classes run during the week, while Interactive Performances and Birthday Parties are offered on the weekend. We also partner with enrichment programs and libraries to offer camps, workshops, and Interactive Performances  during school holidays.

OUR INTERACTIVE PERFORMANCES
Suitable for older toddlers and children up to second grade, our Interactive Performances are action-packed shows filled with singing, dancing, playing games and pretending. We don't use props or costumes, and you'll be amazed at how one skilled performer can single-handedly create a range of imaginary characters and magical worlds.

With an audience capacity of around 30 children, Interactive Performances are perfect for a school, preschool, library, or club. With lots of themes to choose from, these performances can support your curriculum and be a delightful addition to any event!

OUR PARTIES
We offer two different parties; Adventure Parties are for small groups of children (up to 16) and Interactive Theatre Parties for larger groups (up to 30 children). Whatever party you choose will be packed full of music and song, role play, story, pretend and a lot of birthday magic!

HOW MUCH CLASSES COST
Classes cost around $7 per child, with variations based on frequency of visits and number of children in the class. Interactive Performances start at $200 and birthday parties range from $150 - $200.  For a personalized quote, just email sarahrijnen@pyjamadrama.com.  Include what type of class interests you, dates, location, and number of children.
