Children will:
- Contribute to a whole-group discussion (CL)
- Learn and join in with the words of a new rhyme (LIT)
- Work together as a group to lift a cloth high into the air (PSED/PD)
- Have the confidence to take a lead role in a game (PSED)
Resources required:
A large piece of cloth, a tablecloth for example
How to Play
1. Sit in a circle and explain that you thought you saw a ghost last night. Explain that you screamed in shock but then realised it was just the shadow of your cat, dancing across the bedroom wall
Q: How would you react if you thought you saw a ghost? Encourage children to discuss
2. RECITE: If I Saw a Ghost ( a rhyme)
If I saw a ghost,
I would scare him, wouldn’t you?
I’d hide under the bed,
And then shout "BOO!"
3. Once children are familiar with the rhyme, ask for a volunteer to hide underneath a piece of cloth (large enough to cover them completely), in the middle of your circle. The remainder of the group should hold onto the edges of the cloth
4. Encourage all children to join in with the rhyme, 'If I Saw a Ghost'. At the end of the rhyme, children should lift the cloth up into the air to reveal the child underneath who should shout, '"Boo!"
5. Continue to play, with children taking it in turns to hide under the cloth/shout, "Boo!" at the end of the rhyme
Have fun and remember all games, songs and rhymes are original to Pyjama Drama
- you won't find them anywhere else!
